【Summary】
Background: This study aims to investigate patient satisfaction and influencing factors in telemedicine of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) during the COVID-19 pandemic. We collected patient evaluations and feedback on telemedicine to analyze the factors impacting patient satisfaction during the remote treatment process.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to explore patient satisfaction and influencing factors in telemedicine of TCM during the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 337 participants who received TCM telemedicine during the study period were included. Dependent variables included satisfaction with the telemedicine consultation process and treatment effectiveness. Independent variables were categorized into patient demographics, vital signs, questionnaire scores, and TCM treatment information.
Results: The average satisfaction of the subjects with the consultation process was 7.62 (standard deviation = 2.06), and the average satisfaction with the treatment effect was 7.45 (standard deviation = 2.04). Patients reported higher satisfaction with the consultation process and treatment effectiveness when conducted at their own homes. Factors significantly influencing consultation process satisfaction were age, total score of psychological fatigue, acute stress scale, physical fatigue scale, symptom total score, and overall satisfaction with the consultation process. Factors significantly associated with treatment effectiveness satisfaction were age, symptom total score, and overall satisfaction with the consultation process. Patients’ older age was positively correlated with higher satisfaction with both the consultation process and treatment effectiveness.
Conclusion: The study highlights that telemedicine in TCM during the COVID-19 pandemic was positively received by patients. Patients expressed higher satisfaction when the telemedicine consultation occurred at their own homes. Factors such as age and symptom severity were associated with satisfaction levels. Addressing patient concerns and enhancing the consultation process could further improve patient satisfaction in TCM telemedicine. This study provides insights into optimizing telemedicine services in TCM and improving patient experiences during public health emergencies.
